Barra do Cunhaú

It is said that the Cunhaú Barra originated with the construction of a Fort by sailors here who lingered by the grounding of his ship, to shelter and protect themselves while awaiting rescue.

Today, tourism and the creation of shrimp are the two main economic activities of the region: under favorable ecological conditions, RN concentrates most of the shrimp breeding farms in the country with about 1,800 producers.

Entrance to Barra do Cunhaú

When you get to Cunhaú Barra Beach the feeling is standing on a deserted beach with a large fine white sand carpet.

The sea is so calm that it looks more like a large pond of green and clean waters. It is very common to find reefs along the coast, and thus, natural pools are easily formed.

Barra do Cunhaú: the sea is so calm it looks more like a large lagoon

Nearby the trendy Pipa, Cunhaú Barra combines the natural beauty of the region as crystal clear sea, rivers, dunes and mangroves... One item, however, makes all the difference: the tranquility.

The fishing village preserves the rustic air, even the access: to get to paradise, visitors need to make a ferry crossing.

Arriving on land, the attractions are related to the beaches skirted by reefs, coconut trees and wide sandy tracks almost always deserted.

In Barra do Cunhaú, the crab is the local symbol

You can enjoy the beach that is surrounded by coral reefs, long strips of fine white sand, as well as extensive coconut groves.

With coral reefs, greenish and calm waters of the beach form a series of natural pools of warm water and are very relaxing.

Barra do Cunhaú: Ecological boat trip, with mangroves and natural pools

An unmissable tourist attraction is the boat. The program lasts two and half hours and goes through mangroves where you can see the fishing of crabs.

The tour also includes a stop for swimming on the island of Restinga, a beach semi desert with dunes and beach huts that serve fish, shrimp, lobster and freshly baked oysters, as well as the exotic local fruit based drinks.

Pipa RN

The name "pipa" is due to the fact that the Portugueses, from the nearby ship, saw a rock that looked like a shape of a kite, which in Portugal, is the most common name for barrel of wine or olive oil.

It is a quiet fishing village, just over 80 kilometers from Natal, that spent centuries unnoticed on the map.

It has become known to have waves and winds favorable for water sports like surfing, and soon his fame increased, attracting people from all parts of Brazil as well as foreign tourists.

Since then, the so rustic beach and the nearby village, Tibau do Sul, which is only eight kilometers, won cozy inns, restaurants with different accents and bars that make the nightlife of Pipa pulsar strong not only in high season.

By 4x4 SUV trails, it is incomparable!

The joining of the superimposed dunes between sedimentary cliffs and a huge green set, helps to compose a charming setting.

Home to dolphins and sea turtles, Pipa beach belongs to the municipality of Tibau do Sul, Indian name meaning "between two waters" (since it is surrounded by Guaraíras Lagoon and the Atlantic Ocean).

The most endemic and atypical characteristic of this tropical paradise is the junction between towering dunes superimposed on the horizon over the trays that end up in living geomorphologically cliffs by the action of the sea and winds.

It is not known elsewhere in the world that the coastline dunes and sedimentary cliffs recombine so spectacularly with a dense green that comes to take cliffs front.

The Chapadao, famous Pipa Beach cliff is much visited by those who enjoy the sunset.
